This workshop has been approved to meet the HIV/AIDS requirements for all licensed professionals in Kentucky. Approved by the KY Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

Participants will be able to:
Describe the history and pathology of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
Describe the modes of transmission of HIV, high-risk behavior, and symptoms of those infected with the virus
Discuss the OSHA Blood-borne Pathogens Standard
Discuss the most up-to-date mainstream pharmacological treatment for those infected with HIV
Explain BSI precautions used in the prevention and spread of blood-borne diseases
Discuss ethical and legal standards applicable to a caregiver who may treat a person who is HIV positive and discuss attitudes and behaviors regarding persons known to be HIV positive
Provide information on resources and organizations to help persons with HIV/AIDS
